ZigZag Diet

This is somewhat like the Wendie Plan. For those counting calories this is a great read on how you “Should Not” eat the same calories daily.

Zig Zag Diet

My calories vary day to day and I save my highest calorie day for Saturdays. I have not weighed myself since 03/13 (last day of my detox)….but let me tell you my size 14’s are loose. I swear by this. It works great for those of you who have hit a plateau as well.

Well, I tried to read this and it sounded interesting, but a little too complicated for me to keep up with? Is this what you are doing? I think i would need to trainer to think this out for me! Any way it made me think about eating the right foods and keeping up with various kinds of exercise, not just one. Thanks for the link.

Basically what I got from it is to vary your caloric intake. Eat your regular amount (low) during the week…..then on Friday and Saturday eat a higher amount.

I just eat a very high amount one day a week and I chose Saturday for that day.

I would love to try this but I dont know the starting calories. I know for my weight I need to eat 500 calories less m-f but less then what the 2,000 calorie diet? Right now I eat between 1000 and 1200 calories a day and on Friday I eat around 1500 (pizza night). I am losing but I dont want to lose muscle. If you follow the plan can you blog how it works for you. Thanks a lot always looking for new ideas.

Hi Stephanie………from what your profile says…you shouldn’t lose any muscle since you’re strength training. Just make sure you’re getting enough protein. I always drink a whey protein shake after I workout. If you’re already zigzagging your calories and you’re losing weight….that’s good. Go here to know how many calories you need.

    Calorie Calculator

I really don’t know how many calories I eat daily cause I go by points. My points change from day to day with my highest on Saturday. Here’s my points chart.

    POINTS TARGET - 24 (Weigh 175 - 199 lbs)
    ? Day 1 - 24 points
    ? Day 2 - 29 points
    ? Day 3 - 25 points
? Day 4 - 39 points Super High Day (SHD)
    ? Day 5 - 24 points
    ? Day 6 - 28 points
    ? Day 7 - 26 points

So my calories go up and down all week and on Saturday I pig out. lol  This is similar to the zig zig…..only difference is I count points instead of calories.

So far it’s working for me. I will weigh in again on Friday. But I already notice inches melting away.

It says I should eat like 2300 minus 500 for weight loss which is 1800 a day I dont eat that. Huh that’s interested. I only do dumbells for strength since we are not members of a gym yet. So 25 minutes 2x a week is that enough? How much do you do if you dont mind me asking?

    Wow…….that is a lot. I say keep doing what you’re doing. Don’t increase it to that….that sounds crazy. I “think” I average about 1200 a day…but I don’t know for sure.

As for weights….I do tapes. The Firm and Lotte Berk. I bought The Firm from Target and Lotte Berk from Barnes & Noble. Do these 3x a week and you’ll definitely gain muscle. But it won’t be bulky. It’ll be long lean muscle. I don’t have a gym membership either.

There’s all types of tapes out there to follow. All you’ll need are dumbells or a resistance band. You can do lunges and squats for your legs. Always hold your stomach in while doing your exercises. But for proper form…..try looking for a good tape. I know Target has some that comes with the resistance bands and won’t cost much at all.

I also walk for an hour 4-5 days a week. It depends on my schedule. Sometimes I don’t have time.

Hope this helps……if you have any more questions…don’t hesitate to ask.
